Gold Nugget #6

Tired of being single? Pray. But don't pray this:  "Lord, please help me to be content in my singleness." Instead, pray this: "Lord, please teach me and help me to be content with You  throughout all  seasons and situations in my life." Contentment in singleness  is not the goal -- Contentment  is.

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, BUT mighty through God ..." (Read this scripture in its entirety here ) There is a reason why the writer chose to use the word mighty instead of a word that our society would consider an antonym to the word carnal, which might include the word spiritual . So why use mighty instead of spiritual ? Perhaps the reason being is that Paul wanted us to see that carnal weapons do not produce the extent of victory that spiritual weapons do indeed produce. In this case, carnal weapons are the opposite of mighty weapons; they are not mighty at all. If you can reach the heart and mind of a murderer and change his inward views, he will be changed and will ultimately make his own decision against killing people. He will not desire to kill, so he will not kill. But when you outwardly restrict the murderer -- perhaps by binding him up or physically disabling him or even institutionalizing him, it will only stop his hands -- not his

Unlike health insurance, the coverage that comes from the blood of Jesus never expires due to approval limitations and is never cancelled due to non-payment. The debt's been paid already and the insurance is free. There's just one sign up fee, and it's affordable to everyone: "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."  (Matthew 11:28-30)

You may have had a moment where you said, "God, there's no way I can do this or that or have faith like that person -- only STRONG Christians can do stuff like that." But God has had to convince "strong" Christians at some point of His ability IN THEM as well. You see, it doesn't have much to do with our abilities -- it's all about trusting in HIS abilities."

Just Real Quick: "Nah God. You gon' let them do that to You?"

Just Real Quick!!                 This entry is taken from my journal entry dated 1/15/16. At the time, I was happily learning more and more about faith and trusting God in the midst of hard times. I myself was believing God for some things at that time, and meditating on scripture, specifically the confessions of King David in Psalms, helped me not to make the situation I was facing greater than my trust in God. I learned so much from David’s mindset towards trusting God, especially in Psalm 10. The following are my notes on it at that time, edited and revised for this post.

(From Journal Entry 1/13/16) Today, think about the greatness of God in all that you see, learn and encounter. Psalm 8 was one of my readings today and talks about the mighty wonders of God. Let meditating on this fuel you and further show and prove to you that God is worth being trusted. He existed before time! No one created Him and no one knows how long He's been here! Just wrap your mind around that!

"Therefore, let all the godly pray to You while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgement." {Psalm 32:6}       In context, this was right after David described how he hid his sins from the Lord and how much it was eating him up inside. When he finally spoke to the Lord about it, his guilt was taken away and he felt free and hopeful again  (vs.1-5) . I think this shows us that even when we are convicted by the Holy Spirit of our sins, it is important for us to go to the Lord for our guilt to be taken away so that we can ultimately continue moving forward in all hopefulness. We have to understand that while conviction can produce guilt about our sins, its main purpose is to push us towards God. When we refuse to go to God  to be forgiven and cleansed of our sins  (Note: possibly because of shame, embarrassment, not forgiving ourselves, etc. satan uses these feelings to make us think that we do not deserve to go to God) , we maintain this g

Gold Nugget Series: Introduction

I want to start off by introducing this new series on my blog. So, as you can see, it's called "Gold Nuggets." It's a very funny name and I can imagine that a lot of jokes could possibly be created from the name alone, but my explanation of how I came up with it is fairly simple. Every time I happen upon something that the Holy Spirit really blesses me with, I like to share it. I share these things pretty often on my other social media pages, like Facebook and sometimes Instagram, but it's never on my blog. Whenever I happen upon something life/situation changing in a moment, I immediately call it a "golden nugget" from the Holy Spirit. Ha! Because that's what it literally feels like I came across -- gold. It first blesses and encourages me and then I feel the urge to pass it on to others, even if only one, so that it may encourage them as well. So there you have it! This particular series, unlike the "Just Real Quick" series, are s
